Playa del Carmen is one of the main tourist attractions of the Mexican Caribbean. It is located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, at 68km (42 miles) from the South of Cancun. Its ideal subtropical weather with an average temperature of 25º C (77º F) and sunny days almost every day of the year make it a perfect place to visit during your holidays.
In Playa del Carmen you will find beautiful beaches that look out to the Caribbean Sea, an ideal place to relax or do aquatic activities such as snorkeling, windsurfing and even kite surfing. For those who like to scuba dive, there are boats that depart daily from the port to go to the Great Mayan Reefs, the second largest reef in the world.
There you can dive to depths as far as 10 meters (33 feet) surrounded by multicolored fish and coral that have existed for more than 500 years. Near Playa del Carmen, you will discover Playa Paamul and Playa Paraiso, both virgin beaches with calm waters and two impressive ecologic reserves: XCARET and XEL-HA. Furthermore, there are numerous cenotes nearby where you can rappel and dive in caves while you discover the spectacular depths of the underground rivers.
When night falls, we recommend a walk down Quinta Avenida, one of the most frequented places of Playa del Carmen. On this avenue you will find a variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, boutique stores and numerous jewelry shops.
